Chantal Thomass Nivea Colour Passion Lipstick - 69 Rouge d' Amour

This weekend I went to Switzerland to visit a friend and while there I discovered Chantal Thomass's Nivea make up range which was a big surprise. I bought lipstick 69 - Rouge d' Amour - a stunning deep cherry red.
The product is beautiful. Pigment rich, it creates deep red lips. It can also be worn as a wash of colour or with gloss.
It is moisturising (best worn with a lip liner) and has a mild scent.
My only gripe is that the packaging is quite kitsch and the quality of the lid is a bit cheap - I think it could have been better designed, but I can't complain too much as Chantal Thomass combined with red lipstick is the perfect combination.

Christian Dior Addict Lipstick - 874 Abyss Red

This week I rediscovered Dior's Addict Lipstick 874 Abyss Red. A deep blood red with lots of shine. It is moisturising and comes with that very classic lipstick fragrance.
On the lips the shade reminds me of Ellis Faas's famous L101 Ellis Red - a blood red with little orange or pink tones.
Stunningly different.

Illamasqua Lipstick - Maneater

Having recently moved from Australia, I was not overly familiar with British brand Illamasqua. I had read reviews online and had spent a lot of time on their website in awe but to be honest, I never imagined the brand to be so incredible.
Alex Box (creator of Illamasqua) is a make up genius and my new hero!

If you are into red lipstick, then good luck leaving this make up counter with one. I eventually chose Maneater as it came recommended via Illamasqua's twitter account.

Maneater is a bright cherry red. It is both matte and moisturising and I am truly amazed by the pigment and quality of this lipstick.

Maneater is my first purchase from Illamasqua and I plan on a few more over the forthcoming weeks. I love everything about the brand; from it's vivid and intense colour range to it's campaigns encouraging difference and embracing one's alter ego.

You honestly can't go wrong what ever your make up style.

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick - 090 True Red

I purchased Revlon's Colorburst lipstick in 090 True Red on a recent shopping trip to Boots. It was only 6 pounds!
Revlon make some amazing lipstick shades and this is no exception.
This lovely pink based red, can be worn as a wash of colour or layered for a more intense look.
The printed Revlon logo on the lipstick bullet is similar to Chanel's Rouge Coco range. Nice product at a very reasonable price.

Face Stockholm Lip Liner - Inger

Face Stockholm's lip Liner in Inger is a fantastic bright warm red. Although the shade is impressive, I found it to be a little dry in consistency and it initially left little bits of product on the lips. I'd recommend wearing it with a moisturising lipstick or applying it after your lipstick as it blends well with a little help. I've been teaming it up with my Diorific Lipstick in 014 Dolce Vita Red and love it. Face Stockholm's colour palette is impressive and it certainly makes choosing one pretty much impossible.

Face Stockholm Matte Lipstick - Rouge

I just spent four glorious days in Stockholm (Sweden). Stockholm is an absolutely stunning city.
I managed to fit in a visit to Face Stockholm which has an incredible range of red lipsticks. I purchased two matte shades in Rouge and Stunning and am very impressed with both.

Matte Rouge (as swatched) is bright and bold - the pigment is intense. Although the consistency is matte these lipsticks are not drying. The case is slim line, silver and minimal.

Lovely additions to my red lipstick family :P

Ellis Faas Creamy Lips L101 - Ellis Red

I recently purchased Ellis Faas's Creamy Lips - L101 Ellis Red. Ellis states on her website that she was "able to reproduce the colour that Snow White's mother wished for the lips of her child: blood-red. This red is probably the most 'human' of all the colours – and therefore the most versatile".
Fairy tales have intrigued me about as much as red lipstick itself so it was difficult to resist buying this product.

Ellis's creamy lips come packaged in a modern silver wand with a sponge tip applicator and click end that you turn to release the colour.

As described, L101 Ellis Red is a true blood red with minimal sign of any pink or orange undertones. It wears well and despite going on in liquid and glossy form, is creamy once on the lips.
You can amp up the intensity of this shade with a few coats or wear sheer - personally I found it lovely either way.
